Issue description

       Puji syukur kami ucapkan karena kami dapat menyelesaikan penerbitan Jurnal Magenta edisi Vol. 1 | No. 02 | Juli 2017 ini. Meskipun dalam proses penyusunan dan penerbitan jurnal kali ini tidak lepas dari berbagai kendala, namun berkat tekad yang kuat pada akhirnya jurnal ini dapat diterbitkan meskipun pada saat-saat akhir waktu deadline.
       Pada penerbitan kali ini naskah yang masuk lebih beragam dan lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan tebitan edisi sebelumnya. Semoga ini menjadi indikasi bahwa Jurnal Magenta sudah mulai dikenal dalam cakupan yang lebih luas dan memiliki daya tarik tersendiri dari para peneliti atau dosen.
       Bahasan pembuka diawali oleh tulisan Ariefika Listya dalam judul “Visual Branding Kemasan Produk Olahan Belimbing Khas Depok: Studi Kasus Merek Rasa Dewaâ€. Kemasan Produk Olahan Belimbing Khas Depok Rasa Dewa yang dianalisis sesuai dengan konsep regional branding dimana penggunaan indikator geografis pada identitas merek dapat melibatkan asosiasi kualitas karakteristik yang unik dengan lokasi tertentu atau gambaran berkualitas berdasarkan sejarah, tradisi dan folklore dari suatu daerah.
       â€œKajian Infografis Poster Bahaya Narkoba BNN†karya Wulandari, memaparkan perlunya penyaluran informasi yang efektif dengan tampilan yang menarik membuat sebuah penyajian informasi muncul. Infografis menjadi salah satu bentuk penyaluran informasi yang sudah mulai berkembang. Infografis membawa pencerahan dalam menampilkan data – data berupa teks dan angka menjadi tampilan yang menarik bagi pembacanya.
       Angga Kusuma Dawami dalam penelitian mengenai “Logo sebagai Komunikasi Visual dari Identitas Organisasi Difabel†membahas bagaimana logo yang konsisten yang dilakukan oleh organisasi difabel tuli sebagai referensi dalam membentuk posisi tawarnya terhadap mitra kerja organisasi lain. Seperti organisasi Akar Tuli, PLJ, dan Gerkatin. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, tulisan ini memberikan informasi bahwa sebuah logo harus konsisten bentuk visualnya agar menjadi logo yang dapat merepresentasikan entitas difabel Tuli.
       Komik dapat mendorong mahasiswa DKV untuk menyenangi kemampuan berbahasa Inggris dengan baik, dengan indikator penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah unsur-unsur elemen yang umum hadir dalam setiap komik yaitu narasi cerita, ilustrasi gambar, panel, balon kata, moral value dari komik yang dibuat. Bahasan ini dipaparkan dalam “Komik Sebagai Media Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris Desain Bagi Mahasiswa DKV Unindra†oleh Fenti Mariska Yohana.
       Irene Hasian dalam “Analisis Desain Sampul Novel Karangan Ayu Utami Ditinjau Dari Perspektif Desain Komunikasi Visualâ€, berupaya mendeskripsikan elemen-elemen apa saja yang ada pada cover-cover Ayu Utami, meliputi ilustrasi, warna, tipografi, dan layoutnya, kemudian menganalisanya.
       Pembahasan mengenai Majalah Hai yang mengambil jalur online agar bisa bertahan sebagai media massa di Indonesia setelah 35 tahun berdiri, menyusul media cetak lainnya seperti Sinar Harapan, Tempo, Femina, dan lain-lain. berupaya dipaparkan oleh Nurhablisyah dalam tulisan “Perilaku Konsumen di Era Digital Tinjauan terhadap Pembaca HAI Onlineâ€.
       â€œPromosi Upacara Adat Sekaten dan Grebeg Mulud sebagai Wisata Budaya di Surakarta†yang disusun oleh Yahya Dewanto dan R. A. Heryani Wahyuningrum berupaya membuat Perancangan promosi menggunakan media below the line untuk penyebarluasan informasi Upacara Adat Sekaten dan Grebeg Mulud, dengan positioning promosinya pada terangkatnya kembali sentuhan religius Upacara Adat Sekaten dan Grebeg mulud Surakarta sebagai wisata budaya.
       Dan sebagai penutup Yayah Rukiah menulis mengenai “Citra (Image) Perempuan sebagai Objek Seksualitas dalam Iklan Studi Kasus Iklan Axeâ€. Sensualitas menjadi signifikan karena sering kali iklan memberikan penggambaran yang bias tentang sosok perempuan, yang hanya mengandalkan tubuhnya. Sebuah iklan biasanya menawarkan sebuah citra, yang di dalam konteks bahasa iklan dapat dijelaskan sebagai gambaran mental dari sesuatu yang sebenarnya tidak ada.
       Dengan diterbitkannya jurnal ini, diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi yang ada kepada masyarakat dan menambah wawasan ilmu pengetahuan di bidang desain komunikasi visual. Saran dan masukan dari pembaca sangat diharapkan guna kesempurnaan penerbitan jurnal di masa mendatang.
       Kepada penulis dan mitra bestari yang telah berkontribusi pada penerbitan jurnal edisi ini, kami menyampaikan terima kasih yang mendalam.   1. Visual Branding Kemasan Produk Olahan Belimbing Khas Depok: Studi Kasus Merek Rasa Dewa

           This research focuses on visual branding study of superior featured product of local area which produce by SMEs in Depok. Depok has a featured product which is starfruit called “belimbing Dewaâ€. Rasa Dewa is one of many brands of Depok’s proccessed product of starfruit which have lot of variants among others brand. This qualitative research uses aesthetic approach (form, function, meaning) and marketing science approach. Data are collected by observation and literature study. it was done by observed the visual branding elements on the packaging. The Packaging of Rasa Dewa were analyzed according to the regional branding concept whereby the use of geographic indicators on brand identity may involve associations of unique characteristic qualities with specific locations or quality images based on the history, tradition and folklore of an area. The purposes of this study are to determine the form, function and meaning of the elements of Visual Branding of Rasa Dewa that exist on the packaging of starfruit processed products which produces by SMEs Depok associated to brand identity and brand image as a featured product of the local area. Result of this research indicate that Packaging of Rasa Dewa not yet represent Depok featured product.

  2. Kajian Infografis Poster Bahaya Narkoba BNN

    Information becomes very important for the society. Each day they are faced with a variety and variations of form of information. Starting from the information in the field of academics, marketing, editorial and so forth. The need for effective information sharing with an attractive view makes a presentation of information appear. Infographics become one form of information distribution that has begun to develop. Infographics bring enlightenment in displaying data - data in the form of text and numbers into a display that appeals to readers. Infographics also become one of the solutions in conveying information in the form of posters or e-posters.

  3. Logo sebagai Komunikasi Visual dari Identitas Organisasi Difabel Tuli

           Every entity must be known to the their community, they need a difference that can be known what is the entities it, like symbol. Logo is symbol of identity of an entity, that differentiate of other community. Deaf organization’s entity in grassroot level need a logo to diffenrentiate himself after other community entities. The problem is visual communication that a disability organization’s in a village didn’t consistent at the visual communication. It can make the brand of disability organization in village just administration, it can’t support the vision of disability in village.  This paper disscuss about consistent logo can be used by deaf organization to build the bergaining position as a advocavy vision brand. For the example, Akar Tuli, PLJ, and Gerkatin. This paper use qualitative descriptive method to description how logo can be a visual communication for deaf disability organization to representation his image in their environment at village. It aim to create image himself and help the advocacy work as a vision.

  4. Komik Sebagai Media Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris Desain Bagi Mahasiswa DKV Unindra

           The skill of languages is so important in our life, because of this skills we can express our mind and feeling in contextual with the conversation in that situation. The ability to speak we can also speaking well, where speak or conversation have to creative figure in communication so language is clear, coherent, and easy to understand because it can express the ideas and feeling. The issue of mastery of English can not be separated from the planning of the nation's education program. The English itself is practical, still a language science that must be taught to the students. Teaching is the totality of teaching and learning activities that begin with planning and end with evaluation. More explicitly it can be said that teaching as an all-encompassing activity directly to achieve specific objectives of teaching (determining the learners' entry-behavior, drawing up lesson plans, providing information, asking questions, and assessing. Comic is one type of media that can be used to express the mind, imagination and creativity in the form of drawings and written language. Comics can encourage DKV students to enjoy the ability to speak English well. This research indicator used the elements such as comic story narrative, illustration drawings, panels, word balloons, moral values of the comic created.

  5. Analisis Desain Sampul Novel Karangan Ayu Utami Ditinjau Dari Perspektif Desain Komunikasi Visual

           Novel in Indonesia became a popular reading, one by novelist Ayu Utami. However, it turns out Ayu Utami create her own cover design of her novels. Writer interested to examine how to determine the cover design visualization contained in Ayu Utami’s novel that affect she make their own novel’s cover. The method used in this study include observational data collection, interviews, and literatures. The results of the study began seeing Ayu Utami’s novels that tell about the history, culture, sex and myths. In addition to getting entertainment, reading novels Ayu Utami also could add insight and information about the history and culture that has not been known. Each novel is written always do research beforehand. Almost the entire cover of the novel made by Ayu Utami. Researchers then describe what elements are there in Ayu Utami covers novel, includes illustrations, color, typography, and layout, and then analyze it. Conclusions from this research that works Ayu Utami’s novel illustrations is not entirely explanation contents story, but it contains meanings associative relationship exciting to be a conceptual work.

  6. Perilaku Konsumen di Era Digital Tinjauan terhadap Pembaca HAI Online

           Hai magazine announced that Hai Juli 2017 edition is the last printed magazine being published. This meant, Hai as one of the oldest teenage magazine in Indonesia has to follow the other printed media, which being vanished. This magazine has gained 35 years published but have to gave up and choose online publishing. Before Hai magazine, onather printed media such as Sinar Harapan, Tempo, Femina, etc has to stop printing. In order to survice in mass media field, Hai must understand marketing strategy in digital era by understanding consumer behavior in digital era. This research is using qualitative methods and collecting data by literature and observation technique to www.hai.grid.id. The research was done in Jakarta in June to Juli 2017.  The result showed, hai online readers are teenage boy, has an online acitivity in dayli life, having smartphone or other device connected to internet, have special budget to stay connected online, love to hang out with friends and community or peer group. This youngsters are also concern about their looks and having interest on music, sports, movie, art or aoutomotive. Life style is basic principle of the magazine. By using simple visual style on their sites, Hai online, more focus on information content. On the online site, Hai provide comments column and invites the readers to send their creation such as videos, photos, graphics, etc. This effort is to stay connect with readers and gained more readers around Indonesia.

  7. Promosi Upacara Adat Sekaten dan Grebeg Mulud sebagai Wisata Budaya di Surakarta

           Sekaten and Grebeg Mulud ceremonies are held annually to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
           These traditional ceremonies that have dynamic cultural complexity were the result of touches from foreign culture values, they have been held since Demak kingdom era and have long been included in the local government tourism calendar. Unfortunately, these ceremonies have not yet drawn the expected attention of domestic and foreign tourists.
           Appealing promotions are needed to make Sekaten and Grebeg Mulud known to public and become tourist destinations. The promotion design is using below the line media to disseminate information, whereas religious touch of Sekaten and Grebeg MuludSurakarta ceremonies is the positioning to promote these ceremonies as cultural tourism.
           The design is expected to create positive associations, revered and able to invite people to preserve these ceremonies as valuable cultural heritages.

  8. Citra (Image) Perempuan sebagai Objek Seksualitas dalam Iklan Studi Kasus Iklan Axe

           Television commercials began in 1947 in the form of sponsorship advertisements. Advertising is one of mass communication.The world of advertising is now growing very rapidly, making ad entrepreneurs must compete and be more creative in finding ideas. The purpose of this article is to find out the image of women in advertising aa an object of sexuality axe ad case studies. Image can have a strong emotional effect on people, and some imagery has historical significance. Sensuality becomes significant because often advertising gives a biased portrayal of a female figure, who rely solely on her body. An ad usually offers an image, which in the context of an ad language can be described as a mental picture of something that does not actually exist. Image has a very important role, as the definition of social relationships. Image or image displayed in this ad is the men who use this ax perfume will be a man who is liked by all women even angels can be enamored of the fragrance.
